Digital Nation: Dumbing Us Down

Reflection:

What was I supposed to accomplish and how?
The goal of this lesson was for me to learn how to post to a WikiSpace a podcast which I recorded, exported, & published. This process was to begin with a voice board entry through Wimba, which was then to be saved to my computer as a (mp3) file, exported to the UWG Server as a podcast, and finally linked from my Wiki.

What did I learn (growth/progress)?
As with every lesson so far, I learned a tremendous amount completing this Digital Nation Cast.
  • Persistence and trying different approaches are essential when dealing with technical difficulties.
  • I learned how to create a podcast, something I had never done before. If fact, I have never before participated in a voice board until I did so for this lesson.
  • I learned that UWG has a podcast channel, & how to upload podcasts to a particular channel.

What should I have done differently?
I don't think my voice board post was as smooth, eloquent, as it should have been. I should have fleshed out an informal script before recording. In the future I will prepare a more complete script before making a voice recording, unless it is more of a "chat" set-up.

Why is this artifact important to my targeted career?
I can already think of multiple instances when producing a podcast, or starting a voice board discussion would be extremely helpful. There are many educational applications possible for this technology. It could also be very useful in staff communication.
